Somnia has introduced its Developer Network (Devnet) which offers developers and users of Web3 the opportunity to utilize its high-speed blockchain technology. Somnia aims to be the ideal platform for on-chain applications, supporting interactive consumer applications like games, decentralized finance (DeFi), social finance (SocialFi), and metaverse projects.

During internal testing, the Devnet of Somnia has shown it can handle up to 400,000 transactions per second and finalize transactions in less than a second. Additionally, transaction costs stay under one cent even during times of heavy network usage.

Somnia's success can be attributed to advancements in how it carries out tasks, manages data, connects devices, and reaches agreements. The platform's database boasts a quick read-and-write speed of 15 to 100 nanoseconds, leading to a noticeable decrease in delays. Additionally, the enhanced networking capabilities allow for the transmission of 10 to 20 times more data between different nodes.

Additionally, being fully compatible with EVM enables developers to utilize tools and programming languages they are already familiar with to create decentralized applications that need to be responsive in real-time.

Moreover, Somnia enables immediate responses to events happening on the blockchain within Solidity, paving the way for decentralized applications such as interactive games and live event platforms. This functionality aims to improve user engagement and expand the range of applications that can be successfully implemented on the blockchain.

Somnia is offering a $10 million grant to support developers in building a strong developer community. Developers can apply to be whitelisted and join the initial developer cohort. The grant program will provide funding, technical guidance, and strategies to help developers succeed in the market.

Ankr is one of the initial infrastructure partners that will offer Remote Procedure Call (RPC) services to improve the network's connectivity and dependability.

Hemera's Social Scan will be used to support the block explorer, enabling users to keep track of transactions on the blockchain. Thirdweb will also provide tools for creating decentralized applications that are compatible with EVM, making the development process easier.

Public testing for Somnia's Devnet will be available to users during specific hours. This will enable users to engage with decentralized applications like a decentralized exchange (DEX), NFTs, and games.

Their goal is to collect useful feedback and assess the platform's abilities in a real-world setting. Users have the option to receive Somnia Test Tokens (STT) via a faucet on the platform in order to join the testing process.

Those who are interested in learning more about Somnia's technology can visit their website to find information about accessing Devnet, the grant program, and the whitelisting process. By introducing its Devnet, Somnia hopes to increase the amount of data and features available on the blockchain, which could impact the development of decentralized applications in the future.
