Antonio Palma, a key figure behind My Neighbor Alice, has suggested that there are significant updates on the horizon for the popular blockchain-based metaverse game. Despite its success since its launch in early 2023, the creators have ambitious goals to expand MNA into a virtual universe that surpasses the current game.
Antonio Palma, the business director for the game, shared some insights on upcoming plans for users at the recent GeckoCon 2024 Web3 gaming event.
During the Coingecko event, there may have been some information leaked regarding My Neighbor Alice and the cryptocurrency $ALICE. It was mentioned that My Neighbor Alice is more than just a game, with efforts being made to expand the universe beyond the core game. One of the goals is to make the game accessible on various devices. Antonio shared this update on November 20, 2024.
During a panel discussion, Palma was asked about upcoming projects and mentioned that the My Neighbor Alice team is working on three new features that are set to be released in 2025.
To support the growth of the game, Palma and his team are currently developing a new technology that will allow My Neighbor Alice to be played on any device, including mobile phones and tablets. While details about the technology were not shared, it is likely to involve cloud-based streaming, considering the game's current requirements for a PC running Windows 7 OS or higher, an Intel i5-6400/Ryzen 5 1600 processor or better, at least 8GB of RAM, 6GB of storage space, and an Nvidia or AMD-based GPU.
Palma stated that they are one of the pioneers in the Web3 gaming space, testing out new technology that will enable their game to be accessible on any device, not just limited to Windows.
Another part of the strategy is to simplify the process of welcoming new players, as it currently requires too much time and energy for those who play games casually.
Palma mentioned that currently, there are seven steps required to enter the game and begin playing, such as setting up a wallet and registering. However, they are working on reducing this process to just one click. Testing has been ongoing for the complex technology, and they aim to have it ready by next year.
These improvements are intended to make the game more user-friendly for players who are not familiar with cryptocurrency. My Neighbor Alice aims to attract non-crypto-native players and the game serves as a fun introduction to blockchain technology, gradually familiarizing them with concepts like NFTs, wallets, and cryptocurrency.
The game is a virtual world based on the metaverse concept, similar to popular games like Minecraft and Animal Crossing. Players can create and discover virtual worlds, work together with others, and engage in activities like purchasing land, constructing buildings, collecting insects, farming, fishing, and beekeeping.
Within the game, players have assets like land, avatars, buildings, plants, trees, flowers, and animals represented as NFTs. The game offers tools for players to customize their virtual worlds and alter the landscape easily. Players can trade these assets in the in-game marketplace using ALICE tokens earned from completing tasks, working with others, and winning contests. After creating their virtual worlds, players can also make money from them in different ways.
Palma mentioned that significant changes are planned for the in-game economy. He didn't provide much detail, only mentioning that they are experimenting with a new economy system. He hinted at a potential announcement about this and the ALICE token in the upcoming year.
Finally, My Neighbor Alice is looking to capitalize on its position as a top Web3 game by collaborating with other industry players, potentially resulting in new integrations in the near future.
Palma mentioned that they have successfully formed a significant partnership with a major brand within the industry. They have not revealed any details as they are still in the process of creating the experience. They have a policy of only announcing things after they have been developed, but the partnership is currently in progress and will be announced soon.
