Antonio Palma, from the team behind My Neighbor Alice, has suggested that significant updates are on the way for the popular blockchain-based metaverse game. Despite its success since its launch in early 2023, the creators have ambitious goals to transform MNA into a virtual universe that surpasses its current form.
As stated by the game's business director, Antonio Palma, he discussed upcoming plans for users at the recent GeckoCon 2024 Web3 gaming event.
There may have been a leak of 3 alpha versions regarding @MyNeighborAlice and $ALICE at the @coingecko event. My Neighbor Alice is more than just a game; we are developing a universe that expands beyond the main game. We are currently focusing on making the game accessible on all devices. Antonio shared this update on November 20, 2024.
During a panel discussion, Palma was asked to share updates on upcoming releases from the My Neighbor Alice team. He mentioned that there are three new features in development, and they are expected to be launched by 2025.
To expand and grow the game, Palma and his team are developing a new technology that will allow My Neighbor Alice to be played on various devices, including mobile phones and tablets. While specifics about the technology were not disclosed, it is likely to involve cloud-based streaming. This is because the current requirements for the game include a PC with Windows 7 OS or newer, an Intel i5-6400/Ryzen 5 1600 processor or better, at least 8GB of RAM, 6GB of storage space, and an Nvidia or AMD GPU.
Palma mentioned that they are one of the first Web3 games to try out this technology, which will enable their game to be accessible on any device instead of being restricted to Windows.
Another part of the strategy is to simplify the process of onboarding, as it currently requires too much time and energy for casual players.
Palma mentioned that currently there are seven steps required to access the game and begin playing, such as creating a wallet and signing up. However, the goal is to reduce this process to just one click. Testing has been conducted on the complex technology, with the hope of having it ready by next year.
These changes are intended to make the game easier to understand for players who are not familiar with cryptocurrency. My Neighbor Alice aims to attract players who are new to the world of blockchain by introducing them to concepts like NFTs, wallets, and crypto in a fun and engaging way.
This game is like a virtual world that is based on a metaverse, similar to games like Minecraft or Animal Crossing. Players are able to create their own virtual worlds, work together with others, and participate in activities such as buying land, constructing buildings, collecting insects, farming, fishing, and keeping bees.
Within the game, players can own various digital assets such as land, avatars, buildings, plants, trees, flowers, and animals which are represented by NFTs. The game offers user-friendly tools for players to customize their virtual worlds and alter the environment. Players have the ability to purchase and sell these items through the in-game marketplace using ALICE tokens that are earned by completing tasks, working with others, and achieving success in competitions. After creating their virtual worlds, players can also make money from them in different ways.
Palma mentioned that significant changes are planned for the in-game economy. He did not provide much detail, only mentioning that they are currently experimenting with a new economic system. Palma hinted that there may be an announcement related to this and the ALICE token in the upcoming year.
Finally, My Neighbor Alice is eager to use its position as a popular Web3 game to collaborate with different industry players, potentially resulting in new integrations in the near future.
"We have formed a significant partnership with a major intellectual property in the industry," Palma mentioned. "We have not made any official announcements because we are currently developing the experience and we typically only announce things once they are completed. However, this partnership is in progress and will be revealed soon."
