Antonio Palma, a key figure in the development of My Neighbor Alice, suggests that there are significant updates on the horizon for the popular blockchain metaverse game. Despite its success since its launch in 2023, the creators have ambitious goals to expand MNA into a virtual universe that surpasses its current form.
The game's business director, Antonio Palma, shared insights on upcoming plans for users in the next year during his participation in the recent GeckoCon 2024 Web3 gaming event.

My Neighbor Alice is not just a game, but a universe that is being developed to expand beyond the core gameplay. One of the goals is to make the game accessible on all types of devices. During a panel discussion, Palma was asked to share information about upcoming releases from the My Neighbor Alice team. He mentioned that there are three new alphas in development, and they are expected to be launched by 2025.
To help My Neighbor Alice expand and reach more players, Palma and his team are developing a new technology that will allow the game to be played on any type of device, including mobile phones and tablets. Although he didn't provide many details about the technology itself, it likely involves cloud-based streaming, as the game currently requires a PC with specific hardware specifications to run smoothly.
Palma mentioned that their game is one of the pioneers in using Web3 technology, which will enable them to make their game accessible on any device, instead of being limited to only running on Windows.
Another part of the plan aims to simplify the process of getting new players started, as the current process is overly burdensome for those who only play games occasionally.
Palma mentioned that currently, seven clicks are required to access the game and begin playing, including tasks like setting up a wallet and registering. They are working towards reducing this process to just one click. Testing has shown that the technology behind this is quite complicated, but they are aiming to have it ready by next year.
The recent updates are aimed at making the game easier for players who are not familiar with cryptocurrency. My Neighbor Alice wants to attract these players to the game. The game is created to help newcomers learn about blockchain technology in a fun and enjoyable way, gradually introducing them to concepts like NFTs, wallets, and cryptocurrency.
This game is like a virtual world within the metaverse, where players can build and explore different environments, work with others, and engage in activities like purchasing land, constructing structures, collecting insects, farming, fishing, and beekeeping.
Within the game, players can own various digital assets such as land, avatars, buildings, plants, trees, flowers, and animals, all of which are represented by NFTs. The game offers tools that make it easy for players to customize their virtual worlds and change the environment. Players can purchase and sell these items in the in-game marketplace using ALICE tokens that are earned by completing tasks, working with others, and winning contests. After creating their virtual worlds, players can also make money from them in different ways.
Palma mentioned that significant changes are expected in the in-game economy. He didn't give much detail, but hinted that they are experimenting with a new economy system. There may be an announcement about this and the ALICE token in the coming year.
Finally, My Neighbor Alice is looking to use its reputation as a popular Web3 game to collaborate with other industry players, potentially resulting in new partnerships and integrations in the near future.
