Antonio Palma, a developer at My Neighbor Alice, has teased some significant updates that will be released soon. My Neighbor Alice has become a widely loved metaverse game based on blockchain technology since its launch in early 2023, but the creators have ambitious plans for its future. Their goal is to expand My Neighbor Alice into a virtual universe that surpasses the current game experience.
The game's business director, Antonio Palma, shared upcoming plans for users in the coming year at the recent GeckoCon 2024 Web3 gaming event.
During the CoinGecko event, there may have been information shared about My Neighbor Alice and the cryptocurrency ALICE. My Neighbor Alice is not just a game, but an entire universe being created that extends beyond the game itself. One of the goals is to make the game accessible on various devices. Antonio shared this update on November 20, 2024.
During a panel discussion, Palma was asked to share upcoming developments from the My Neighbor Alice team. He mentioned that there are three new features in progress, set to be released by 2025.
Palma stated that his team is developing a new technology to allow My Neighbor Alice to be accessible on various devices, such as mobile phones and tablets, in order to facilitate the game's expansion. Although he did not provide many details about the technology, it is likely to involve cloud-based streaming. This is suggested by the game's current requirements, which include a PC with Windows 7 OS or newer, an Intel i5-6400/Ryzen 5 1600 processor or better, at least 8GB of RAM, 6GB of storage space, and an Nvidia or AMD-based GPU.
Palma mentioned that their game is one of the pioneers in utilizing Web3 technology, which will enable it to be accessible on various devices, not just limited to Windows.
Another component of the plan is to simplify the process for new players to get started, as it currently requires too much work for those who only play games occasionally.
Currently, Palma believes that there are seven steps required to access and start playing the game, such as setting up a wallet and registering. However, they are working to reduce this to just one step. Testing has shown that the technology involved is very advanced and they are aiming to have it ready by next year.
The new updates are intended to make the game easier to understand for players who are not already familiar with cryptocurrency. My Neighbor Alice aims to attract players who are new to crypto by introducing them to concepts like NFTs, wallets, and crypto in a fun and engaging way through the game.
This game is like a virtual world in the metaverse, similar to Minecraft or Animal Crossing. Players can create and explore virtual worlds, work together with others, and participate in activities like purchasing land, building, collecting insects, farming, fishing, and beekeeping.
Within the game, players use NFTs to represent their land, avatars, structures, vegetation, and animals. The game offers user-friendly tools for players to customize their virtual worlds and alter the environment. Players have the option to purchase and sell these items in the game's marketplace using ALICE tokens, which can be earned by completing tasks, working with other players, and succeeding in competitions. After creating their virtual worlds, players can also find ways to make money from them.
Palma mentioned that there will be significant changes to the in-game economy. He didn't provide many details, but mentioned that they are experimenting with a new economy system and hinted at a possible announcement about it and the ALICE token next year.
Finally, My Neighbor Alice seems interested in using its position as a popular Web3 game to collaborate with different industry players, potentially resulting in new integrations in the near future.
Palma mentioned that they have successfully established a significant partnership with a major intellectual property in the industry. They have not made any official announcements as they are still working on creating the experience. They prefer to announce things only after they have built something tangible. The partnership is currently in progress and will be revealed soon.
